Summary

Oversees and manages the organizations skin care program and associates. Serves as clinical expert and consult on newly acquired and worsening wounds. Reports to corporate leadership and compliance on facility acquired pressure injuries and healed wounds within organization. Direct Report to Director of Clinical Operations with a dotted line to Vice President Corporate Compliance and General Counsel. Tracks trends in wound, ostomy, and continence care at facilities and provides suggestion for interventions. Collaborates with corporate mulitdisplinary team to review and recommend changes to the organizations skin care formulary and support surfaces. Assists corporate leadership team during facility state survey as it pertains to wounds. Develops and implements education for the organization's nursing department as it relates to skin and wound, ostomy, and continence care. Routinely participates in wound rounds at facilities. Serves as liaison for outside providers of wound, ostomy, and continence care to ensure collaboration of supply and services for the organization's residents and patients. Collaborates with risk management and compliance on wound matters.

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing with current licensure in the State of Missouri and State of Illinois.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Current RN licensee in the state of Missouri and State of Illinois
  • Certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound, Ostomy Nurse (CWON) required. or willing to obtain within six months of employment
  • Three to five years of recent nursing experience during which administrative and supervisory competency has been demonstrated.
  • One year management experience preferred.
  • Communication, organization, and planning skills required.
  • Must be able to manage a diversity of activities and function at all times in a stressful environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary.
  • Ability to transfer and move residents who vary with ability to assist weighting 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary.
  • Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40 lbs. using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary.
  • Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with residents and equipment.
  • Ability to perform necessary documentation.
