Summary
Administers medications as documented in the MAR. Follows proper technique when administering medications and completes medication pass safely within the allotted time frame 100% of the time. Documents appropriately and accurately all medications passed and follows established standards and guidelines. Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment on the medication carts and alerts Nurse Manager/Designee with the need for any supplies or medications in a timely manner. Ensures that the medication cart remains locked and is properly stocked and cleaned at the beginning and end of each shift. Monitors community members' responses to medication and reports observations to Nurse Manager/Designee. Administers PRN medication per policy. Continues to monitor the community members' responses to the PRN medication throughout the assigned shift and reports any uncommon behaviors or side effects the Nurse Manager/Designee. Works with the pharmacy provider to reorder any medications that may be dropped, spilled, or wasted. Works safely and uses proper procedures to minimize loss and ensure the protection of assigned community members. Interacts and maintains effective working relationships with all team members. Maintains discretion in handling confidential information. Gives report to Nurse Manager/Designee at the end of each shift and reports pertinent information with the oncoming/previous shift. Receives and processes telephone and verbal orders for medications and treatments as authorized to administer. Answers community members' call lights and assists with ADLs as needed. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Nurse Adie in the state you will be working
- Certification as a Medication Technician in the state you will be working
- Insulin certification required, or willing to obtain within six month of employment
- CPR certification required, or willing to obtain within six months of employment
- Recent assisted living experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with community members, visitors, and staff
- Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary
- Ability to transfer and move community members weighing 200+lbs with varying abilities using proper lifting techniques and with assistance as necessary
- Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary
- Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with community members and equipment
- Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing and on computer
- Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color
Pay range: $16.08- $25.24 per hour
