Summary
Completes resident's life-story overview; coordinates person-centered meaningful activities; participates in required departmental meetings and completes QAPI assignments. Records, updates, and maintains person-centered information into computerized documentation system (assessments, change of status, progress notes, MDS, attendance) ensuring State guidelines are met and Bethesda standards are followed. Develops monthly activity calendar per neighborhood using resident recommendations and input from all neighborhood disciplines. Implements planned activities. Prearranges supplies and equipment for neighborhood and person-centered activities. Works with neighborhood team members to set up and escort residents and guests to activity while initiating and encouraging participation. Cleans up after each activity is completed. Monitors activities in the activity center and keeps work area clean while ensuring resident safety at all times. May be assigned other duties as appropriate.
Job Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Continued education in Recreational Therapy or related field preferred.
- Must have knowledge of growth and development and show expertise for geriatric population.
- CPR certification required or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- One-year geriatric experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to perform necessary documentation in writing or through a computer.
- Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance as necessary.
- Ability to lift and or move items with weights of 10 to 30lbs using proper lifting techniques and asking for assistance when necessary.
- Manual dexterity and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment.
